Blackjack Switch: Blackjack With a Twist

A lot of people are accustomed to playing blackjack in the long-established method. A newer version of the game is called blackjack switch. In this article we'll try to find out if blackjack switch is actually better than the original game and, if it is, we'll see what makes it so.

To make it easier to understand blackjack switch, let us recall how the original blackjack is played. In the traditional version, the objective of the players is to get a score closest to 21 but not exceeding it. Players and dealer alike all have 2 cards in the beginning. Players have the option to hit, stand or fold depending on the values of the cards at hand. If the players have all made their decisions, then the dealer takes a turn. Whoever meets the objective wins. If it's the dealer who busts out, then the player automatically wins. It is called blackjack when one of the players or the dealer gets a hand of a picture card and an ace. The player's bet then would win 3:2.

That is the traditional and more popular way of playing the game and it has been played for the longest time. Recently, however, many versions of blackjack have already been introduced in many casino parlors, one of which is blackjack switch. The change with Blackjack switch is providing players with an alternative hand with the same bet. But, this new move should be used wisely to make it work for the player and there is, of course, a catch.

To balance the edge provided by the new action in blackjack switch, there are also 2 new rules to follow. One is that the game ends in a draw once the dealer scores a 22. In the original game, the player would have already won. Two, instead of a 3:2 bet, players are required to make an even bet.

Only the second dealt card could be switched. Switching during the game is entirely in the discretion of the players. Careful calculations must be done in order to take advantage of the switch.

With blackjack switch, it is said that players have better chances of winning. But these chances are only vaguely better. The odds of winning make very little difference from the original blackjack. It does not really matter which version of blackjack you play, having fun during the game is still more important and being able to enjoy a variety of games once in a while is still better.
